Lankawi (Malaysia)

Hey !

After short 3h journey by really fast ferry we arrived to tax free island called Lankawi , its one of the most tourist visited place in Malaysia .By the way don't forget to take sweater or jumper , because for some reason in ferries they put air con to the max !  So... We stayed in a small town called Kuah.

Accommodation was good , it cost us 35RM ( bit more than £6) per night. More or less everything was OK  , just motel staff were not really friendly ...In general its very quiet local town , there is a really nice park and mosque ,apart that there is not much to do, so if you planning to visit Lankawi I don't recomend to stay in Kuah , better to stay in another small town near airport where are most of attractions and night life. Since Lankawi is tax free area there are plenty shopping malls on every corner, but the thing is they look very spooky ,because there is not much people around and half of the shops were always closed...

We rented a scooter ,so that we can explore the island by our self's. It didn't cost us much 30RM ( about £6 ) per day. You just need about 7RM (bit more than £1) to fill full tank ,which is enough for all day. Roads were good and quiet ,so we really enjoyed it.
First we went to Oriental Village , which was typical traditional Malaysian village and also there was Lankawi skybridge which was my #1 palce to see . Entry fee was 30RM (about £6), but believe me it was worth it! Just in a few minutes time you will go up to the peak of the mountain and from there opens just gorgeous views of the island. I could stay there all day long...After this amazing experience we found a nice cheap place to eat and rest. Then we went for a walk in the tropical forest and seen the waterfall , unfortunately one guy told as that its not a season to see a full picture of it, but still it was nice ;) I even took a swim in to that refreshing mountain spring water . On the way back we met wild monkeys ! My wife straight away got so excited and started taking pictures of them and etc. She loves monkeys and I love to see her reaction every time she sees something cute ! LOL :)

We also visited black sand beach, drived around local villages , went to rice fields and watched a beautiful sunset .
The last day we just relaxed , went for a walk in the park and finished the day by watching the sunset again. Then we did some research about future places and went to sleep early.

In general I would say its a nice place to visit, it has a bit of everything , mountains , nice beaches , night markets, a lot of half empty duty free shopping malls ,waterfalls and a small beautiful islands around.
And this was the last stop in Malaysia for now , we will back to see the rest of Malaysia in June. Our next country to explore will be Thailand!

Labas mielieji,

Jau labai vėlus vakaras, bet pastebėjau, kad labai vėluoju su savo namų darbais ;) Mes jau kaip ir toli nuo Lankawi, o aš dar nepasidalinau įspūdžiais su Jumis...
Taigi is Penang salos pasukome link Lankawi salos. Keltas užtruko apie tris valandas ir kainavo mums £31/125lt dviem žmonėms su įskaičiuota kaina taxi iki kelto.
Užsisakėme viešbutį su vaizdu į jūrą už pakankamai gerą kainą  apie £6.50/25lt žmogui su įskaičiuotais pusryčiais, bet nuvažiavus iškilo problemų, pasakė, kad vėliau perkels į kitą kambarį kuri užsisakėm ir davė laikinai kambarį be lango. Kai paklausėm kada atsilaisvins, kurį užsakėm tai pasirodo su tokiu vaizdu jie kambarių net neturi, nes užstatė kitą viešbutį priešais ;) Tai galų gale bent jau gavom kambarį su langu... Šiaip viešbutukas labai geras ir jaukus ir duočiau gerus balus jei nebūtų apgavę.
Lankawi sala yra neapmokestinta mokesčiais, todėl čia yra daug prekybos centrų ir visokių parduotuvių kur viskas daug pigiau nors pagrinde ten įvairūs saldumynai ir alkoholis. Normalių maisto parduotuvių kaip IKI ar Maxima nepastebėta visoj Malaizijoj arba reikia  ieškot labai ilgai...
Miestukas Kuah kur buvom apsistoję pakankamai mažas, bet netoli kelto, nors norint kažką daugiau pamatyt be taxi ar motorolerio pagalbos neišeis išsiverst. Pačiam mieste yra gražus parkas, o visas kitas atrakcijas pamatyt jau reikia važiuoti į kitą salos pusę.
Taigi čia pirmoji vieta kur išsinuomojom motorolerį, bet spėju tikrai ne paakutinė. Kaina parai tik £5/20lt, o benzinas pilnas bakas apie 5 litus ir pilnai užtenka apvažiuot visą salą. O svarbiausias dalykas, kad galima ant jo važiuot tiek žmonių kiek telpa, matėm netgi po penkis ant vieno ar net visą šeimą, žodžiu jokių taisyklių ;))
Ką visiems rekomenduoju pamatyti šitoj saloj tai tiltas aukštai kalnuose su nuostabiu kraštovaizdžiu, kuris vadinasi Skybridge, kurio kaina £6/24lt žmogui. Tuo pačiu ten nuvykus pamatai tradicinį Malaizietišką kaimelį, kuris specialiai padarytas turistams su daug suvenyrų bei tradiciniu maistu. Toj pačioj vietoj galima pakilt aukštai į kalnus pasigėrėt vaizdais, gaila, kad tas tiltas buvo uždarytas dėl remonto, bet ir tai atsivėrė nepakartojamo grožio kraštovaizdis iš apžvalgos bokštelių.
Taip pat nuvažiavom prie krioklio, kur vyras išsimaudė šviežiam kalnų vandenyje, o aš pasidžiaugiau nepakartojamom beždžionėlėm. Pirmą kartą pamatėm ryžių laukus, nes visgi įdomu iš kur tie ryžiai pas mus atkeliauja ;))
Aplink salą yra gražių paplūdymių, kuriuos verta pamatyti ir palydėti saulėlydį bei kitų atrakcijų, kurios yra mokamos: paukščių parkas, krokodilų ferma, buivolų ferma, ekskursijos aplink vietines salas ir kt.
Kadangi mūsų biudžetas ribotas, reikia rinktis kas įdomiausia ir labiausiai verta dėmesio ;)
Tai buvo mūsų paskutinė stotelė Malaizijoje, bet mes dar sugrįšime ten birželį. Įdomi ir verta dėmesio šalis...ooo toliau Tailandas!

Penang Island (Batu Ferringhi) (Malaysia)

Hey guys !

Another exiting destination - Penang Island ! It took us around 5 hours by bus to get here from Cameron Highlands. And it cost us 32RM (about £6) per person. First nice thing when we arrived was this sunny and warm weather again, that doesn't required shoes and sweater :)

We originally supposed to stay in George Town , but we heard about this cool guest house in Batu Ferringi called Lazy Boys that everybody talks about,so decided to try it.

Believe me its really lazy :D I think its all boys-men dream :D it has all the toys ! :D Game room with Xbox, guitars, drums, poker table, books, free coffee or tea, really great sound system , fast WiFi , free laundry , hammocks and really relaxing atmosphere! Owners are two cool and friendly  brothers who will not let you to get bored. In general really great place , just 2min form night market and 5min walk from the beach and 1km from Hard Rock Cafe ! It cost us just 30RM ( about £5.5) per night with private bathroom. We supposed to go around island , but instead we got lazy ! :D I think its because of that relaxing atmosphere around, as far as we got from that place was the beach ! :D
At the beach you can try all kind of water sports and in the evening you can watch stunning sunset while having diner on the beach and after enjoy romantic horse riding along the beach...:)

Every evening there is a night market where you can by some nice souvenirs , fake goodies, some local food and etc.

It was two great, relaxing days that we had , but we need to move on. Next stop will be Lankawi Island. See you ;)

Labas visiems susidomėjusiems,

Linkėjimai iš kitos mūsų stotelės Penang salos Malaizijoje. Įdomu tai, kad į šią salą nereikia keltis su keltu, nes yra sujungta su pagrindine žeme, ilgiausiu Azijoje 13km. tiltu ant vandens.
Taigi po 5val. autobusu (žinokit ilgoms kelionėms jie tikrai patogūs ir daug erdvės ir kainavo tik £6/24lt žmogui) atsidūrėme George town`e kur ir planavom apsistoti iš pradžių, bet pradėjus ieškot kur permiegot radau šaunią vietelę, kuri vadinasi Lazy boys svečių namai, netoli kitame miestelyje kuris vadinasi Batu Ferringi. Nakčiai tik £5.5/22lt. žmogui, su privačiu wc ir dušu, nes dažniausiai visur reikia dalintis.
Šie svečių namai buvo super, nes turi visko ko reikia: hamakai atsipalaidavimui, laisvo stiliaus svetainė-valgomasis su visada grojančia muzika ir kitais keliautojais besidalinančiais savo nuotykiais, knygų, žaidimų kambarys, muzikinių instrumentų kambarys, virtuvėlė pasiruošt maistui, žodžiu vaikinų svajonė, nors ir panelėms atsiranda ką veikt.
Praleidom ten porą naktų, planavom aplankyt visą salą, nes visai įdomių atrakcijų buvo, bet taip aptingom po visų ilgų kelionių, kad tiesiog tinginiavom ir tiek, ypač kai paplūdimys antroj pusėj kelio, ne daugiau 2min.
Paplūdimyje taip pat daug veiksmo ir atrakcijų; pilna jaukių kavinukių, įvairūs vandens sporto užsiėmimai, jodinėjimas su arkliais ar tiesiog gėrėjimasis saulėlydžiu....
Taigi dvi tokios tinginio dienos ir prabėgo, dėl kurių tikrai nesigailiu, kad nepamačiau visos salos, nes svečių namų savininkai, du broliai, tikrai apie viską pagalvojo ir neleido mums nuobodžiaut.

Cameron Highlands (Tanah Rata) (Malaysia)

Hey !

After 4 hours drive by bus from capital of Malaysia we arrived to Cameron Highlands small town called Tanah Rata. Don't be mistaken by word highland , because it was a proper mountains. We were going up by narrow and cliffy roads like there is no end. And when we finally arrived, we could straight away feel how temperature dropped down ...Which shocked us a bit .We felt like we are in some small cozy town somewhere in Austria or Norway . It even had this German stile white houses with black stripes.

We stayed in small guest house called Twin Pines. The place was OK apart few holes in the ceiling and paper walls . LOL . But you can't expect much for a 22 RM ( about £4) per night.

So for my wife's birthday we decided to do this all day trip around Cameron Highlands.
We started with Butterfly farm , but there were not much of them ...there was more snakes , lizards and various bugs and etc. So in my opinion it should be called lizard farm :D  Then we moved to most exiting part of the day ! We went to visit the famous Cameron Highlands Tea Plantations! We even went to see how's tea that we drinking every day is made in tea factory and how from the same tea plant they make 5 different kind of teas , we also been able to try fresh local cup of tea and have locally baked pastries while looking at all those beautiful green tea hills. After that we went to a highest point of Cameron Highlands which is 2000 meters above sea level . To be honest we didn't see much , because it was foggy :( Then we had a walk in mossy forest , I have to admit it was very mossy :D We seen there interesting plants growing like cinnamon , ginger even those herbs that they use to make Tiger balsam or Mosquito repellent. Next stop was strawberry and bee farms , I have to say didn't see anything special there...Anyway , after that we bought some fresh fruits and veggies form the local market and final sight of the day was Chinese Buddhist temple .

In general it was really good and productive day , we learned something new , had some kind of hiking in the fresh air and took beautiful pictures.

I am glad that we visited this really peaceful , green, beautiful place.
Next short stop will be Penang Island ! See you!

Sveiki visi!!!

Taigi po keturių dienų praleistų sostinėj kur visada vyksta veiksmas ir daug žmonių, mes pasukome į kalnus ( Cameron highlands), kur yra tylu ir ramu.
Po 4val. kelionės autobusu siauručiais vingiuotais keliukais pasiekėme mažą miestelį Tanah Rata. Kelionė autobusu mums kainavo £6/24lt žmogui, kuri manau, tikrai pigi už tokią ilgą kelionę su geru ir patogiu autobusu. Įvažiavus į miestelį atsivėrė nuostabus gamtos grožis, visur aplink kalnai ir įdomūs vokiško stiliaus namukai, draugiški žmonės vieni kitus pažįstantys ir gerai įsimenantys turistus, nes antrą kartą sutikus sveikinasi kaip su senai matytu draugu.
Apsistojome svečių namuose Twin Pines, kur nakvynė kainavo £4/16lt žmogui per naktį. Aplinka labai įdomi su gražiu sodu ir kavinuke, kambarys tvarkingas, tik wc ir dušu reikėjo dalintis su kitais.
Temperatūra kalnuose iškart nukrito, nors rodė kažkur apie +18 bet man jau reikėjo džinsų ir megztinio, atvykus iš +32, tad visada gerai turėti šiltesnių rūbų...
Cameron highlands praleidome ir mano gimtadienį, todėl ta proga nusipirkom eksursiją aplink apylinkes. Kadangi keliaujame kuo pigesniu būdu, dažniausiai stengiamės visas vietas, kurias verta pamatyti susirasti internete ar informacijos centre, kurių visur pilna ir apeiti pėsčiomis ar viešuoju transportu, nes jei visas ekskursijas pirktume paklotume nemažai pinigų (Čia patarimas kas keliauja pigiai, nes ekskursija kainavo apie £14.5/60lt žmogui).
Kas labiausiai sužavėjo tai arbatų plantacijos, kurios augo kalvuotose vietovėse ir galėjai matyti jas toli toli...Sužinojom įdomų dalyką, kad visų rūšių arbatos kaip juoda, žalia, balta, su skoniais yra gaminamos iš tų pačių arbatos lapelių tik skirtingas jų paruošimas.
Taip pat aplankėme drugelių fermą, kur buvo daug gyvačių ir kitokių vabalų, aukščiausią vietovės tašką , bei samanotąjį mišką ( mossy forest), kur auga cinamonas, laukinis imbieras, augalas iš kurio darydavo tarybinę žvaigždutę, jei kas pamena tą specifinį kvapą, ir daug kitų augalų.
Čia praleidome tik pora naktų, nes viską apžiūrėjome per dieną, bet jei būtų šilčiau smagu praleist ir daugiau laiko tokiam grynam ore kur daug gamtos kaip namie. Ehh...
Judame toliau ir susimatysime kitoje stotelėje....

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

Hey ! Greetings from Kuala Lumpur ! :)

So after 13 hours and 10 600 km we finally at our starting point !
When we landed , we got a message from the guy who supposed to accommodate us that he's got an emergency and we not going to be able to stay in his house, but we didn't panic and with a bit of luck and almighty internet we found a really nice affordable place in a heart of KL just for 37RM ( about £7) per night included "breakfast" and WiFi. From there we could reach all KL attractions within walking distance.

In general central KL is very modern and reminds me of Europe , all the shopping mall , posh expensive shops and restaurants. Its very clean and people are very friendly and helpful. There is a lot of Chinese and Indians in KL and they have there own areas in a city like China town and Little India which  attracts a lot of tourists. You can really feel their culture and atmosphere there,try their food, buy some souvenirs and cheap fake goods.

                                  

To celebrate my birthday we went to visit Petronas Twin Towers which is the biggest twin tower in the world ,it was quite expensive 80RM ( about £15 ) per person , but at the end was worth it! We were actually a bit lucky ,because there were just only few tickets left for that day and we got it for 7.15 pm session which was exactly what I wanted, because get 2in1 a sunset and nightly KL! First we went to a bridge between the towers to watch a sunset and after that to the top of the right wing towers 86th floor,from were opens most stunning night views of KL.After that we went to central park which is just outside Petronas Towers for musical and color fountain which was just amazing , we were hypnotized by them for a few hours. LOL :D

In KL central market,which is oldest market in KL , you can buy almost everything from traditional food to souvenirs. We also visited most of the main city sights like Sultan Abdul Samad building, Merdeka square, Jemek mosque, City Gallery and Menera tower.

Just about 30 min drive by train outside KL there is another big tourist sight Batu Caves which was something extraordinary, when we went there it was an Indian festival called Thaipusam going on for 5 days and 4 nights 24h non stop. It was kind of crazy but at the same time calm.There were thousands of thousands Indians who wanted to climb 272 steps into the Batu Caves we joined them as well. On the way up we asked one guy what its all about? He told us that its traditional celebration on the full moon period , when they clean up all the sins and get rid of devils inside them. It was something I never seen before all those traditional spiritual rituals, smells and all those Indian songs where really cool, we felt like we somewhere in middle of India .They say it attracts around one million people every year to celebrate this festival.

I have to say I really enjoyed KL and I can't wait to explore the rest of Malaysia ! Next stop Cameron Highlands ! :)

Sveiki !

Po 13val. skrydžio pagaliau pasiektas mūsų tikslas. Pirma mūsų stotelė Malaizijos sostinė Kuala Lumpur. Kas labiausiai nustebino iškart įvažiavus i miestą, kad labai visur tvarkinga, visi daugiaaukščiai namai renovuoti ir kaip pastebėjom vėliau labai išsivysčiusi šalis, kaip dauguma Europos mietų.
Apsistojome svečių namuose Serrai Inn 4  naktims, pačiame centre prie kiniečių turgaus, įžymieji Petronas bokštai pėsčiomis pasiekiami, kaina nakčiai apie £7/ 25lt. žmogui su įskaičiuotais pusryčiais.
Pagrinde visas vietas nakvynei užsisakėm per hostelbookers.com, taip pat labai geras yra booking.com, galima užsisakyti greitai ir pigiai, o sumokėti tik atvykus.
Kadangi šalis buvusi Didžiosios Britanijos kolonija, todėl dauguma šneka angliškai, žmonės labai draugiški ir visada pagelbėja, lengvas ir pigus susisiekimas mieste.
Aplankėme visas pagrindines ir įžymiausias vietas mieste: labai populiari kiniečių turgavietė, kur galima gauti visus vardinius daiktus pigiai bei tradicinio gatvės maisto, kurio vis nedrįstam dar paragauti nes atrodo nehigieniškai, taip pat nuvažiavom į šventyklą uolose (Batu caves), kurioje kaip tik vyko indų tradicinė šventė ir jų ten buvo daugiau nei keletą tūkstančių. Ši šventė vyko 5 dienas ir 4 naktis ir dažniausiai sutraukia per milojoną turistų ir pačių indų iš visų šalių. Į šitą šventyklą reikia kopti 272 laiptelius, bet tai buvo taip lėtai, nes žmonių grūstys bei įvairūs ritualai neleido judėt greitai, bet buvo labai idomi patirtis, nes pasijauti kaip Indijoje.
Sostinė nėra toks įvairiapusis kaip pvz. Londonas, nes čia pagrinde dominuoja indai, kiniečiai ir patys malaizijiečiai.
Per vyro gimtadienį ėjome į didžiausių pasaulio dvynių Petronas bokštų vidų. Pakankamai brangu £15/ 60lt. žmogui, bet galiu pasakyti tikrai buvo verta iš 86 aukšto pamatyti nuostabų vaizdą, temstantį miestą. Nusileidus į apačią, didžiausias siurprizas buvo spalvotas fontanas, galima sakyti kaip ir fontano šokis, nes vis keitėsi formos ir spalvos, o lygiai kas kiekvieną valandą fontanas šoko pagal muziką. Tai tikra meditacija nuo ko negalima atitraukt akių, mažiausiai pusantros valandos. Tikrai rekomenduoju būnant ten pamatyti šį grožį. Apie nuostabaus grožio parkus ir kitas vietas nebeišsiplėsiu...
Taigi apibendrinus, galiu pasakyt, kad Kuala Lumpur mus sužavėjo savo grožiu, nors lyginant su kitomis Azijos šaimis yra brangesnė tiek maisto atžvilgiu, tiek apsipirkinėjant suvenyrus ar ŗūbus. Bet galų gale visa tai verta aplankyti ir pamatyti!!!
