After 24h and 1520km trip , we finally reached our next stop Chiang Mai! We left Phuket 4pm and we changed the bus in Bangkok next day at 5.40am and we arrived to Chiang Mai 4pm! It cost us 2600 baht (£47) for both of us including snacks , drinks and food on board .Buses was quite comfortable, but still it was one long trip...
When we arrived we still didn't had anywhere to stay so we found nearest internet cafe and found this really nice and cheap guest house just 5min walk from the bus station called Poi De Ping. Room was nice with really comfortable bed , in general very cosy place with the nice and helpful owners. For the room we paid 500 baht (£9) per night.
The city center is a bit far , but if you rent scooter its not a problem. And guess what? Yeahhh...that's exactly what we did ! Just for 250 baht (£5) a day and we didn't even needed to look for it , because hotel rents them like in the most places I guess .
We where really hungry when we arrived , so we checked in and first question, is there any nice cheap place to eat? And one guy recommended this local restaurant just across the street , so we went there and guess what? I never ever eat so nice and ridiculously cheap in Thailand! Actually probably in my life! Just 30 baht (60p) per main course! So we eat there every day.
We started exploring Chiang Mai by visiting Tiger Kingdom , famous place for seeing Tigers and possibility to play with them ! I was a bit sceptical about all this , because I knew that big Tigers are drugged in order not to harm tourist who want to take a picture with them, but there was an option to see little baby Tigers. So we decided to do that even it was the most expensive option. Ticket cost 600 baht (£11) per person, but they where so incredibly cute . They look natural and was interacting and playing with us all the time. We even had a chance to feed them. After all I was glad we did this visit , those little cats brings a lot of joy and you just playing there with the big smile like 5 year old kid...
I just didn't like how they drug and use the big Tigers for a tourists just to take pictures with them , that is just wrong...Its like to take a picture with a drug addict while he's high ...sad...
You also could see some white Tigers and Lions over there.
Latter that day we visited night bazaar market , where again you can buy some souvenirs , cheap and good quality fake staff, have traditional food or have a homemade coconut ice cream or refresh yourself with fruit shake. That is one of the best thing in Thailand for me, that you can get cheap fruit shake of fresh fruit juice on every corner.
Next day we went up on the hill to see Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple , from which opens beautiful city view, we also bought this Buddhist bell from old lady , she said is a good luck if we write our names on it and find a place were to hang it in the temple and pray for your families and friends. It was a naive thing to believe , but we thought it was a nice thing to do , so we did it , as apparently hundreds of other tourists or travelers. It was tricky to find a free spot , because there was so many of them, but after a while we did found a nice spot for our good luck bell. After we went to a Chang Mai zoo for 150 baht (£3) per person, which I can say was a bad decision...it was a huge zoo, with no directions and maps ....you can easily get lost here walking around by foot...but there is other option to take a tuk tuk around or sky train , which you have to pay for it. And inside the zoo, you even have to pay to see some animal like for example Panda for 100 baht (£2) per person, which just sitting there and chewing his bamboo...I would recommend to skip this attraction if you planning to visit Chiang Mai,because there is much more better things to do in there. But I guess that's the only thing I didn't like about Chiang Mai. The rest it was just wonderful .
One of the days we spend just walking and exploring the city. It has this kind of nice cosy atmosphere and this old European city feeling. There are a lot of temples around , the most famous one I guess is Wat Chedi Luang. By walking around city we accidentally found this Asian festival going on dedicated to the ASEAN . Basically all south east Asian countries with going to unite in 2015 , kind of the same thing like European Union as I understood . So there was a free concert , also you could play some games, which I did as well an won a small souvenirs ! Also you could find out more about other S.E.A. countries which was very useful for us and try their food for free. And there was this one old guy with a big smile on his face giving free hugs to everyone ! I took one as well :-)
For some reason Chiang Mai left me a special mark in my heart , I even had this strange feeling like I was here before , even my wife noticed that , by asking 'how do you know all the roads so well and drive around with such a confidence ?' I just looked at map once and I knew where to go . It was a bit strange ... We where joking with my wife maybe i was living there in my previous life . LOL . But anyway I really loved Chiang Mai and I would definitely come back there again .
And that's it my friends , next stop is capital of Thailand , Bangkok!

Sveiki iš priešpaskutinės stotelės Tailande,
Po 24 val., ir įveiktų 1520km., pagaliau pasiekėme Chiang Mai. Ši mūsų kelionė kol kas buvo ilgiausia nuo vieno miesto iki kito, bet net nesitikėjom kad taip lengvai įveikiama. Iš Puket miesto važiavome naktiniu autobusu iki sostinės Bankoko, paskui pasikeitėm į kitą autobusą į Chiang Mai. Kelionė kainavo apie £24\100lt., žmogui. Labai nustebino, kad autobusuose yra stiuardesė, taip pat duodama užkandžių, vandens, kavos ar šiaip gaiviųjų gėrimų, o VIP autobusuose netgi įeina pagrindinis patiekalas į tą pačią kainą. SVIP autobusai netgi su televizoriukais ant kiekvienos sėdynės kaip lėktuve. Autobusai visada sustoja kartą ar du, kurioje nors vietoje kur yra kavinukė ar parduotuvė, nesvarbu kelionė trunka 3val ar 8 val. Taigi manau, kad Lietuvai ir daug kitų Europos valstybių yra dar kur tobulėti.
Kai atvykome į miestą vis dar neturėjom kur apsistot, nes dažniausiai užsakau viešbučius iš anksto. Viešbučius yra gerai užsisakyt iš anksto vien dėl to, kad galima pasiskaityt komentarus ir nuspręst ar tau tas tinka ar ne. Dažnai komentaruose ispėja jei kambaryje galima rasti kokių gyvūnėlių kaip tarakonu ar panašiai.
Tad susiradom internetinę kavinukę ir radau puikų viešbutuką šalia autobusų stoties Poi De Ping tik už £9/36lt., už naktį. Palyginus kokybę ir kainą tai mokėjom juokingai pigiai. Šalia jo yra maža kavinukė kur meniu nors ir nedidelis pasirinkimas, bet maistas skanus ir super pigus tik £0.60/3lt už patieklą.
Chiang Mai miestas garsėja tuom, kad čia labai daug šventyklų, mažiau turistų, tad daug ramiau ir geresnis poilsis. Pats miestas mums labai priminė Europą, nes skyrėsi nuo viso likusio Tailando dalies. Labai tvarkingas, su senais pastatais, teka upė aplink miestą, daug kavinių bei įdomių parduotuvėlių. Kadangi mūsų viešbutis buvo toliau nuo centro tai kaip ir visur išsinuomojom motorolerį (apie 20lt parai) ir važinėjom aplink, nes taip manau geriausia pažinti miestą.
Labiausiai čia sužavėjo apsilankymas tigrų karalystėj, kur galima netgi įeiti į narvą ir praleisti šiek tiek laiko su pačiais tigrais. Pasirinkom mažylius 2-3 mėnesių, o ne suaugusius vien dėl to, kad dideli tigrai yra apsvaiginami narkotikais, kad nekeltų grėsmės turistams, o mums tas labai nepatiko kaip kankinami gyvūnai. Mažiukai jie nieko dar nesupranta ir jiems noras tik pažaisti, jie tokie naturalūs tai buvo labai įdomu tokie dideli kačiukai. Mažiausi brangiausi £11/45lt., žmogui, bet tikrai verta, turėjom galimybę net pamaitinti.
Taip pat apsilankėm šventykloj Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, kuri yra aukštai kalnuose su nuostabiu atsiveriančiu miesto vaizdu. Labiausiai sužavėjo kelias pakeliui į šventykla, toks vingiuojantis su žydinčiais medžiais ir labai gaiviu oru, kurio jau labai pasiilgau...
Apsilankėme nakties turguje, kuriame galima gauti visko kaip ir visur Tailande. Verta išbandyti naminių kokosinių ledų, vaisių kokteilius, kuriais galima mėgautis kasdien, taip pat pėdų masažas labai populiarus po ilgų vaikščiojimų po miestą. Pastebėjau, kad čia labai daug menininkų, tapančių šedevrus ir aš su mielu noru bučiau įsigijus bent vieną paveikslą, jei mūsų nelauktų dar tokia ilga kelionė prieš akis, nes apsikrovus daiktais nesinori keliauti.
Apsilankėme zoologijos sode vien dėl to, kad norėjome pamatyti pandas. Nusivyliau, nes sumokėjom po £3/12lt., už įėjimą žmogui, atstumai milžiniški, tad vaikščioti per karšti jokio malonumo. Galima pasiimt traukinuką, bet tada reik papildomai mokėt, o norint pamatyti panda griaužianti savo bambukus tai reikėjo mokėt vėl papildomus £2/8lt., žm.
Žinoma yra ir daugiau atrakciju. Jei patinka gaminti, verta pasiimti maisto gaminimo pamokas ir išmokti kažką naujo, taip pat populiaru Taju masažo kursai ar nuvažiuoti į ilgakakliu genties kaimelį.
Pataikėme kai vyko festivalis apie visas Pietryčių Azijos šalis, jų kultūrą, maistą ir tradicijas. Buvo labai įdomu, nes būtent į visas šias šalis mes dar keliausim, sužinoti kažką daugiau iš anksto.
Chiang Mai miestas mus sužavėjo, paliko dideli įspūdį savo jaukumu ir paprastumu gal dar ir dėl to, kad priminė Europą, o žmonės taip pat daug nuoširdesni ir linksmesni nei kitose Tailando vietose. Jei norite ramaus poilsio ir domitės šventyklomis, kurios čia yra vienos seniausių, tada Chiang Mai kaip tik Jums!
